It's set to be hot and (mostly) dry this week, but some rain is on the way

Ireland is in the midst of a historic heatwave with record breaking temperatures and sunshine.

IT IS SET to be another hot, dry week as Ireland’s extended heatwave continues. There will be some scattered showers, however, with more rain breaking through later on in the week.

Ireland is in the midst of a historic heatwave with record-breaking temperatures and sunshine being a feature of the country over the last few weeks.

According to Met Éireann, today will be mostly dry, with some misty and cloudy periods and even some drizzle in areas early on. This will clear away later with good sunny spells developing.

Top temperatures are set to reach 22 to 26 degrees, but it will be slightly cooler on the coast. Tonight is set to be dry, with some mist developing towards morning and temperatures dropping to between nine and 14 degrees.

Tomorrow will be much the same as today, with cloud forming later and some rain forecast later on in the day.

In general the high pressure that has been dominating the weather will gradually weaken, allowing some showers to break out.

By the weekend, a mix of scattered showers and sunny spells are expected.
