Where's the sun? Expect more wind and rain today

We’re sorry to bring you the bad news, but take your brolly with you everywhere today and tomorrow.

WE MISS THE sun. If you miss the sun too, then be prepared that you won’t see too much of it today and tomorrow, as rain and wind is forecast.

Sigh.

Don’t forget your umbrella today, as Met Éireann says it will be a cool, blustery, showery day “with fresh to strong and gusty west to northwest winds”.

We can also expect scattered, heavy showers – the showers will be heaviest and most frequent over the northern half of the country. If you’re down south, you can expect to experience the best of any sunny spells there.

Temperatures will reach 12 to 14 degrees, while showers will ease off later this afternoon and into this evening. They will become confined to western and northwestern coasts.

This evening

This evening, winds will begin to moderate, while cloud will thicken in the west. This will spell rain arriving in western areas tonight, pushing eastwards overnight.

The rain will be heavy in places, said Met Éireann, while lowest temperatures will be between 7 and 9 degrees.

As the week progresses, tomorrow will be a damp, dull day with heavy and persistent rain through the morning and early afternoon. Wednesday will be fair, while Thursday will become mostly dry overnight.

However, Met Éireann indicates that we can expect fair and mild weather next week. Some light on the horizon, then.
