Planning a barbecue for this weekend? We have some bad news...

And next weekend isn’t much better.

SCATTERED SHOWERS WILL spread across the country this weekend, not clearing until Tuesday.

Met Éireann says that today will see cloud and rain clearing in the morning, brightening up with temperatures hitting highs of 17 degrees with some moderate winds.

However, before you crack out the barbecue, scattered showers will turn thundery in the afternoon.

Tomorrow, Met Éireann says, will be largely similar with sunshine, showers and thunder.

Those showers will die away tomorrow evening, but the temperature will drop to around five degrees.

The weather will begin to settle a bit by Monday with slightly fewer showers and temperatures in the mid-teens.

Tuesday and Wednesday should see some clearer, sunny days before the showers return from Thursday to run all through next weekend.
