Sunshine alert: It's set to hit 21 degrees today (and the mid-20s by next week)

The weather appears to have noticed it’s supposed to be summer.

WE’RE IN FOR some welcome sunny, summer weather over the next week or so.

Met Éireann’s forecasting temperatures of between 17 and 21 degrees today, with the best of the sunshine in the southern counties.

While there’ll be some cloud and rain showers around in the northern half of the country today, conditions will be better everywhere by tomorrow.

The weather service is predicting a bright day with sunshine, with similar conditions again on Sunday.

Next week, temperatures will edge towards the mid-20s by Tuesday, it’s forecast, with a further outlook of “continued dry, settled conditions and warm weather”.

It’s June — so, proper order then.
