Looks like winter's not ready to leave just yet...

Keep the brolly handy this week.

DON’T HIDE AWAY that umbrella just yet, as it looks like winter is still clinging on to the weather for another little while.

We can expect some showers today, but also bright or sunny spells, with temperatures of 10 – 12 degrees. That’s the good news.

However, tonight will bring some rain, but on Wednesday we can expect wind and a little rain or drizzle in the west of Connacht and Ulster, says Met Éireann.

Leinster and inland parts of Munster will get the best of the sunny spells, and there will be ‘fresh to strong’ southwest winds in the west and northwest.

Here comes the rain

Heavy rain will develop in the west by midnight on Wednesday, with Thursday starting off wet with heavy rain in many areas.

Showers will continue on Thursday night, mainly in the west, becoming increasingly wintry overnight.

Expect frost in some areas, with lowest temperatures of -1 to +2 degrees.

More rain is expected on Friday, with occasional heavy showers of hail or sleet.

Saturday will also see heavy showers of rain, hail or sleet, with frost on Saturday night and showers and frost on Sunday.

We’re keeping the sunglasses, shorts and barbecue within arms reach in case the weather does decide to change its mind.
