Weather warning issued for motorists

Gardaí issue warning as driving conditions are set to deteriorate throughout today and into tomorrow.

GARDAÍ ARE WARNING motorists that weather conditions are expected to deteriorate later today and tomorrow as temperatures drop.

AA Roadwatch says that temperatures are expected to fall to around minus 1 degree in some areas. Although in comparison to last winter tonight will not be particularly cold, the drop means a change in temperature of around ten degrees.

The organisation says drivers should bear in mind that as driving conditions change, they will need to alter their driving practices to suit.

Met Éireann has also issued a gale warning for coastal areas.

Gardaí are advising people to avoid any unnecessary journeys while driving conditions are particularly poor.
