Weather warning issued over strong winds

Snow may fall on the Donegal hills later today – so wrap up warm.

MET ÉIREANN has issued a weather alert for today, warning that high winds will hit much of the country.

St Stephen’s Day will start mainly dry but rain over the southwest is expected to spread countrywide by early afternoon. Snow may also fall on the Donegal hills for a short time.

Strong and gusty westerly winds will hit most of the country in the afternoon.

It is expected to become drier in most areas later in the day, but rain will continue in the north.

Highest temperatures will range 7 to 11 degrees.
