A STATUS YELLOW weather warning is in place for half of the country today.
Wet and windy weather is expected to sweep in from the Atlantic tonight with heavy rain and a risk of spot flooding affecting parts of Munster and Connacht.
The warning has been issued for Connacht, Kilkenny, Donegal, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford, Cork and Kerry.
Met Éireann says there will be totals of 30 to 50mm of rainfall over a 24 hours period, with high accumulations possible in hilly and mountainous areas.
The warnings were issued between 1pm and 1.25pm and will be valid between 9pm tonight and 9pm tomorrow.
Cloudy and misty conditions and heavy rain Munster and Connacht will extend eastwards overnight.
Widespread heavy rain is expected tomorrow with a risk of spot flooding, drying out in Munster and west Connacht in the evening. Further bouts of rain are expected over the following days.
