54: The number of requests the Irish government made for Facebook to hand over information in the first six months of this year – an increase of 20 on last year.

44: The percentage of people in Ireland with private health insurance. Health Minister Leo Varadkar has announced new measures to push young people to take out cover.

37: The number of years ago that Brendan Megraw went missing. The body of the 23-year-old, who was ‘disappeared’ by the IRA, has been found in a Meath bog.

30: The age that RTE Radio One’s Morning Ireland turned on Wednesday.

8: The number of years since the Republican Party has had control of both houses of Congress in the US. The GOP won both the House and the Senate in midterm elections this week.

2: The maximum number of toys from the film Frozen that people are allowed to buy at the Disney store in Dublin in the run-up to Christmas.
