All of your essential tech and social media news for the week in one byte-sized portion.

WELCOME TO THE Weird Wide Web – where we take a look at the week’s best offerings in tech and social media news.

Self-driving car of the week

Google revealed an update on its self-driving car project with a video showing how the car has the ability to detect a cyclist giving hand signals, identify closed lanes and see a vehicle parked on a shoulder.

Snapchat update of the week

This week Snapchat announced it was upping its game with a number of new messaging features.

Perfect cup of tea of the week

This company promises something pretty big – the perfect cup of tea, BBC reports. The Bkon tea maker uses a vacuum to extract flavour from the tea, apparently leaving you with the best cup of tea you’ll ever drink (until you use it again). Such notions…

Livestream of the week

Now you can watch a HD livestream of Earth from the International Space Station. There’s not a lot happening in it but we found it strangely soothing…

Apparently there are no Restrictions according to Govt in a court of law today. Which means off you all go, and anyone can come in as well.
None of there Advisories and Guidelines are written in stone. Everyone can go where they like.

It’s just this Govt using the Fear factor to drive on this Casedemic.
    Details of court case
Ryanair is ‘mischaracterising’ Ireland’s travel measures by calling them ‘restrictions’, court told

Ryanair claims the restrictions are also unconstitutional and breach various Health Acts, the European Convention of Human Rights and the European Charter of Fundamental Rights.

@PeeedOff: From what I understand – correct me if I’m wrong – the only legally enforceable obligation related to inbound travel into Ireland from a non green list country is the filling out of the passenger locator form. Nowhere did I read in the locator form itself or the SI instituting it that failing to restrict one’s movements was an offence. I’m getting the distinct impression that the government have been trying to run circles around us. Making it an offence to fail to restrict your movements would’ve been unenforceable as well as very possibly illegal. But they’ve misled us into believing that self isolating on return from a non green list country was a legal obligation nonetheless, and behaved as such, notably in regard to the PUP cuts. If that’s the case this is truly egregious.

So let me get this straight, from next Monday you can fly to Germany, Poland or Cyprus, etc (I’m all for travel BTW) without any restrictions, but people from Dublin can’t get on a train to Galway for a weekend if Dublin moves to level 3, this is becoming more and more like the classic film one flew over the cuckoos nest where the lunatics take over the asylum, except this ain’t no comedy it’s an unmitigated nightmare “government”

@Olivia Smith: But there is a very noisy minority that do worse than nothing by protesting wearing masks, partying on the streets and having a good whinge whenever they are told to obey regulations designed to save people. Dubs seem to make up a lot of that block.

I am sick to my teeth with this tripe, we have more or less cocooned since last march.
We have avoided visiting elderly friends and relatives.
I have been in hospital for a few weeks without visitors.
    We have avoided going out.
All I see is “open the pubs” by the usual pissheads
Now because of the actions of a few flat earth muppets we are heading back to lock down.
    Well done clowns.

Who cares anymore? This government couldn’t even enforce mandatory quarantine. They bluffed people into thinking you had to quarantine, while other countries actually had the sense to enforce it. A green list of countries that was simply a joke list, all whilst you were actually not restricted from travelling to any non green list country. Made no sense, but nothing does anymore with their daily ráiméis.

Be careful of this so called green list. If you come back to Ireland from one of these countries you don’t have to isolate and quarantine. However, If you travel to Latvia, for example, from Ireland, youd have to isolate on arrival for 14 days as Ireland is not on their green list. You couldn’t make it up.

Sure leo is hoping to allow people to travel to see family abroad over the Christmas period. Even though travel is and never was restricted? Did he mean that he will give consent to travel? Because he know that’s what some people are waiting for. Funny how when Michael o’Leary challenged then they were quick to say there has never been a restriction on travel. And people are free to travel where ever they want should they choose to.
