Cork

Arrrrr!… The Baltimore Pirate Festival is taking place this weekend. All ‘pirates’ are invited to take part in the family-friendly events – including boat trips, walks and treasure hunts.

Many of the events scheduled are free but some charge a fee and require booking in advance. The festival kicks off at 11am today and runs until tomorrow evening.

Westmeath

Body&Soul 2015, Ballinlough Castle, Co West Meath www.akdigital.eu www.akdigital.eu

The Body & Soul music festival will grace the surrounds of Ballinlough Castle this weekend. The Gloaming top the bill and people can also look forward to acts like St Germain, Saint Sister and Gold Panda.

Weekend tickets have sold out but Sunday tickets, priced at €65, are still available online.

Dublin

The Dalkey Book Festival is back for its sixth year. High profile speakers include actor Michael Gambon, former Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis and Bob Geldof.

Starting at 10am today there will be of plenty events for children in Dalkey library – and tomorrow there’ll be family-friendly happenings around the south Dublin suburb.

Sligo

Now in its seventh year, Rosses Point Shanty Festival promises maritime-themed entertainment for all the family. Visitors can expect music, workshops, literary events and races.

Most of the events are free, with the exception of fundraisers for the RNLI and Sligo Bay Lifeboats. A full event guide is available online.

Mayo

Get active this weekend with a bog walk, a seashore walk, a cycle or a 10km road race at the Erris Beo Festival, Bellmullet.

The events start at 10.30am today and prices for the activities start at €5.

Wicklow

The Round Island Sailfest and Taste of Wicklow Festival are returning to Wicklow Town this weekend.

Over 60 boats will depart Wicklow at 1pm as part of the Round Ireland Yacht race. Free family activities will take place in Blackcastle from 12pm to 5pm today. There will also be a free under-18′s music night in the Sailfest Festival Marquee from 7pm onwards.

Tomorrow enjoy the celebrity chefs, food producers and musical entertainment at the Taste of Wicklow.

The Tom Crean Festival is taking place this weekend in Annascaul, West Kerry. On Saturday evening at 7.30pm, Tom Crean’s Antarctic expedition will be presented through dance, music and song. Tickets are €20. On Sunday at 1pm there will be a Tom Crean walk. There are plenty of other events happening over the weekend.
