THE IRISH SUMMER will continue apace over the weekend, with more rain and below average temperatures.

It’s not all bad though, with Met Éireann promising “occasional spells of sunshine” today.

Showers will be well scattered but occasionally heavy this afternoon. Highest temperatures will reach 15 to 18 degrees with light westerly breezes.

Tonight will be generally dry and clear, but outbreaks of rain will affect the south coast at times. Temperatures will drop to 8 to 10 degrees.

It’ll be more of the same tomorrow: mostly dry with scattered showers and highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees.

On Saturday, Met Éireann says it will be mostly dry with sunny periods and just the occasional shower during the afternoon or evening across northern areas.

Temperatures will remain below average for this time of year, with top values of 15 to 17 degrees and light breezes. The evening and early night will be dry, but rain will spread into the west later.

There’ll be further rain during Sunday morning, slowly clearing from the south. In the afternoon the rain will continue over the north. Sunshine and heavy showers will feature the rest of the country.
