Weird Wide Web: A Flickr facelift, a NASA pizza and a feminism-destroying video game

All of your essential tech and social media news for the week in one byte-sized portion.

WELCOME TO THE WEIRD Wide Web – where we take a look at the week’s best offerings in tech and social media news.

Flickr facelift of the week

This week started off with the launch of a major redesign of Flickr with a free terabyte (no, that’s not a typo) of storage and a much cleaner look with giant photos. What do you guys make of it?

Parking app of the week

This lovely app helps you find parking spots in real-time. ParkMe uses a mapping system to show you where the closest, cheapest parking spots are. Unfortunately it’s only available in certain US cities so here’s a shout out to some Irish entrepreneurs to get working on a version for us. Please.

Weird NASA research of the week

Have you ever wondered what pizza made by NASA might taste like? Those crazy cats have announced that they’re funding research into 3D printed food and the engineer responsible will start his project in the next few weeks by trying to print a pizza, Quartz reports. Can we get pepperoni on that?

Feminism-destroying video game of the week

Everyone seems to be talking about Candy Crush but another game that’s taking off on Facebook is getting feminists all hot and bothered. Buzzfeed has done a great rundown on everything terrible about It Girl, but that’s not likely to make a dent in its over 1.7 million users… Now, I’m off to powder my nose and put on some lippy.
