Man dies and elderly woman hospitalised in Westmeath house fire

The two were the only occupants of the house at Jordanstown, Ballynacargy

A 55-YEAR-OLD MAN has died in a house fire in Co Westmeath.

Emergency services attended the incident at around 3.30am this morning.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and an 82-year-old woman was brought to hospital with what gardaí say are not life-threatening injuries.

The pair were the only occupants of the house, located at Jordanstown, Ballynacargy.

The scene has been persevered for a forensic examination, and a post mortem is due to be arranged.
