Woman aged in her 50s dies following crash on Co Wexford bridge

The N25 Eastbound lane on the New Ross bypass remains closed this morning.

A WOMAN HAS died following a crash involving a car in Co Wexford last night.

At approximately 7.10pm yesterday evening a collision took place involving a car and a pedestrian at Stokestown on the New Ross bypass, known as the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Bridge.

The pedestrian – a woman aged in her 50s – was fatally injured.

No other injuries were reported according to gardaí.

The N25 Eastbound lane on the New Ross bypass – for traffic coming from south Kilkenny and Waterford – remains closed this morning, with local diversions are in place through New Ross town.

A technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators is due to take place this morning.

The local coroner has been notified and arrangements will now be made for a post-mortem examination.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Anyone using the road at the time who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
