Wexford Gardaí arrest man over suspected dissident activity

Early raids on a house in Barntown, west of Wexford Town, uncover parts that could be used in home-made explosives.

GARDAÍ in Wexford town have arrested a local man in his 20s in connection with suspected dissident Republican activity.

The man was arrested shortly after 8am this morning following an early raid at a house in Barntown, about three miles west of Wexford town.

Gardaí said the raid had uncovered component parts which could be used in the assembly of improvised explosive devices, which they had seized.

The man remains in detention at Wexford Garda Station, under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, and investigations into the suspected activities are ongoing.
