• The funeral of Mikey and Thelma Dennany, who died in a car fire in Co Westmeath last Friday, took place this morning, with hundreds of mourners hearing how their lives were “tragically cut short in the full bloom and promise of childhood”.
• A senior member of the Kinahan crime gang who has been arrested in Spain is believed to have been involved in laundering €200 million in just over one year, Europol has said. 
• A newborn child is in critical condition in hospital this evening following an incident in Louth earlier this week, with a Garda investigation ongoing.

#EUROPEAN UNION Hungary reacted furiously to a vote in the European Parliament today that declared that the country was no longer a “full democracy” and that the European Union needed to act.

#UKRAINE Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said today that his war-scarred country wants to join the European single market ahead of a decision on whether to grant Kyiv full EU membership.
