Wikipedia's newest editors aren't even human

The new AI system will spot errors to help reduce the workload for its human editors.

WIKIPEDIA IS NOW relying on artificial intelligence (AI) to help it keep track of bad edits on its site.

More than half a million changes are made to Wikipedia’s articles every day and is usually monitored by a large number of volunteers who ensure that all edits are correct and factual. Each edit has to be reviewed manually so the organisation is looking to AI to help out.

The Objective Revision Evaluation Service (ORES) is said to be like “a pair of X-ray specs”, highlighting edits that could be potentially damaging.

“By combining open data and open source machine learning algorithms, our goal is to make quality control in Wikipedia more transparent, auditable and easy to experiment with”, says the Wikimedia Foundation in a blog post.

Our hope is that ORES will enable critical advancements in how we do quality control – changes that will both make quality control work more efficient and make Wikipedia a more welcoming place for new editors.

The system works by training it against edit and article quality assessments made by the site’s editors and giving scores for both edits and articles. The AI judges the quality of an edit by looking at the context of the change and the language used.

The idea is that by using smarter AI to tackle obvious errors or changes, it would take some of the workload off current volunteers and encourage new ones to join up and contribute.

Alongside the introduction of ORES, the organisation is working on three different things to improve the service such as classifying edit types and bias detection.

Information is power. These companies are now more powerful than states.
It concerns me when IBM Computers owns a company like G4S and G4S is bidding to buy Police forces in the Uk.
    So what is law.?
Is law a profit making exercise.?
Is policing interested in a community or is that just naive.
Is police only interested in collected intelligence / data , issuing fines, and protecting corporate interest under the guise of health safety and well being.
Well my research to date leads me to say that the police forces of the world are only about protecting vested interests .

I look forward to the day my boss can go to my google+ page and observe me live on the drone cam, stretched out in my back garden with a flagon of linden village and a bag of tayto when I am meant to be at the office.

I’m happier it is in the hands of Google and not Facebook. Google have a culture of making the world better and simpler and where possible providing products for free.

Jesus, Muhammad, and the Buddha were holding a seminar on religion. In turn they asked each other the same question. “Why are most of our people so unhappy with their lives?” They debated, and came to this conclusion. People were seeking the Holy Grail through.. Money, luxury, and affluence. However, this only gives a quick fix before a downer sets in. Then, they were each given a piece of paper on which to write where they thought the Holy Grail was hidden.

When they checked, they each had the same answer.

“The Holy Grail lays hidden inside everybody’s heart. Alas, the last place anyone looks!”
