Who came out on top, and who was bringing up the rear? Here are our picks for the winners and losers of the year.

WELL, IT’S BEEN a busy year around the world – the Olympic Games, a US Election and a continuing debt crisis in the EU.

And it hasn’t been quiet in Ireland either with much wrangling over the nation’s abortion laws, a controversial Budget and the ever-dramatic fallout from the Quinn Group’s business dealings.

For some, it was a year they’ll look back on with happiness and pride. For others, it was a twelve months they’d probably rather forget.
