Woman in her 20s dies in three-vehicle Mayo crash

The woman’s car struck a minibus and a truck this lunchtime.

A WOMAN in her 20s has died after a three-vehicle crash in Co Mayo this lunchtime.

The accident – involving a car, a truck and a minibus – occurred at about 1:10pm on the N5 at the junction with the old Castlebar Road, near Lislackagh.

The woman, the driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the mini-bus was taken to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar with minor injuries, while the driver of the truck was unharmed. None of the three vehicles were carrying any passengers.

The affected stretch of the N5 is closed to facilitate a forensic examination, and local traffic diversions are in place at Bohola on the Castlebar side and at the Kiltimagh turn on the Swinford side.
