Man charged with murder after body of Polish woman found in suitcase in canal

Police believe the deceased is a 23-year-old Polish national.

A MAN HAS been charged with murder after the body of a woman was found in a suitcase in a canal.

The body was recovered from Grand Union Canal in west London on Sunday.

Formal identification has not taken place yet but police are satisfied that the dead woman is Marta Ligman, a 23-year-old Polish national of Buckingham Road, Brent.

Thomasz Kocik of Buckingham Road, Brent, was arrested on Monday along with two other men. He was charged earlier today.

The 38-year-old will appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The other men, aged 30 and 34, have since been bailed to a date to be confirmed.
