Woman dies after being hit by a bus in Cork city

The woman died after she was struck near the city’s bus station this evening.

A WOMAN HAS died after she was struck by a bus in Cork city earlier this evening.

The woman, whose age and identity have not been disclosed, was struck by a bus at Parnell Place near the bus station in Cork city centre shortly before 5pm this evening, gardaí have confirmed.

RTÉ reports that the driver of the bus was not injured but he and several passengers on board were said to be deeply shocked by the incident.

The scene was sealed off pending a technical examination and diversions are in place.

The woman’s body has been taken to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem examination will be carried out.

Gardaí are investigating and have asked that any witnesses to the incident come forward.
