Woman dies and four injured in Cork road collision

A 22-year-old woman died after a collision with a car carrying a mother and her three children who were injured.

A WOMAN HAS died and four others have been injured following a two car collision in Co Cork last night.

A 22-year-old woman died following a collision at the Ballyclough junction on the N72 Mallow to Killarney road at around 8pm last night, gardaí say.

She was the only occupant of that car.

In the second car, a mother, aged 51, and three children were injured and were taken to Cork University Hospital. The extent of their injuries is not known.

The road where the incident occurred is closed and is expected to remain so for most of the morning as gardaí carry out a technical examination of the scene.

Gardaí are also appealing for witnesses to contact Mallow Garda station 022 31 450, or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
