Woman (20s) killed in single-vehicle road collision in Derrylin

The collision occurred shortly after 10:50pm last night in the Ballyconnell Road area of Derrylin.

A WOMAN IN her 20s has died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision, the PSNI has said.

The collision occurred shortly after 10:50pm last night in the Ballyconnell Road area of Derrylin, a small village and townland in Co Fermanagh bordering Cavan.

Officers and emergency services attended the incident, but the woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, a silver Vauxhall Astra, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Other occupants of the vehicle were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, police said. 

Inspector Cherith Adair, from the Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances of the collision, and would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have captured dash-cam or other footage which could assist with our enquiries. The Ballyconnell Road has now reopened after being closed overnight.

Yesterday morning, a man driving a lorry aged in his 40s died following a single vehicle road collision in the Moylagh Road area of Beragh

Officers attended, alongside colleagues from partner emergency services. The driver of the lorry was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Moylagh Road, which was closed for a period of time following the collision, has since re-opened.
