Woman dies following crash on Cork motorway

The two-vehicle collision occurred on the M8 at about 6.20 this morning.

A WOMAN IN her 60s has died following a road crash on the M8 at Watergrass Hill in Cork this morning.

Gardaí in Glanmire are investigating the circumstances of the two-vehicle collision which occurred at about 6.15am today.

The deceased was a back seat passenger in a car when it collided with a lorry. She was seriously injured and taken to Cork University Hospital, where she died later.

The female driver of the car was also taken to hospital, as were two other passengers – a man and a woman. The driver of the lorry did not require medical treatment.

The stretch of road on the M8 Southbound near Watergrass Hill is still closed pending the completion of forensic examinations. Local diversions are in place.

Witnesses have been asked to contact Glanmire Garda Station on 021 482 1002.
