Woman dies in Galway house fire

The woman in her seventies died in the fire at a house in Loughrea.

AN ELDERLY WOMAN has died in a house fire in Galway, which broke out around midnight.

The fire at the house on the Old Galway Road in Loughrea broke out on the second floor, reports Galway Bay FM. The woman who died was in her seventies.

Her husband and grandson were in the house at the time, and both are being treated at University Hospital Galway. They are said to be in a stable condition.

Gardaí said they don’t believe the fire started in suspicious circumstances. A spokesperson told TheJournal.ie that an investigation is underway.
