Woman dies in Co Clare nursing home fire

Fire broke out in residence late last night.

AN ELDERLY WOMAN has died following a fire at a nursing home in Co Clare.

The fire broke out at around midnight in a bin on the first floor of the Lakes Nursing Home, in Killaloe.

The woman, in her 90s, died during the evacuation of the home. There were 48 patients and three staff in the building at the time of the fire.

A 21-year-old man and a garda were also injured, and have been taken to hospital for treatment.

An investigation into the fire has been launched.
