Woman dies in Offaly house fire

The 64-year-old woman was alone in the house at the time.

A 64-YEAR-OLD woman has died in a fire in a house in Co Offaly.

Gardaí are investigating the cause of the fire at the house near Ballycumber but believe that it was not started deliberately.

The blaze broke out this morning at around 11.20am. The woman, who was in an upstairs room when the fire broke out, was alone in the house at the time.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman’s body has been brought to the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore for a post mortem.
