Woman (70s) dies after being struck by a car in Co Cork

A man in his 60s was also struck by the vehicle on Main Street in Charleville, Co Cork shortly before 2pm on Saturday.

A WOMAN IN her 70s has died after being struck by a car in Co Cork.

The collision occurred on Main Street in Charleville, Co Cork shortly before 2pm on Saturday. 

The woman and a man in his 60s were struck by a vehicle. They were taken to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries, and the woman was later pronounced dead. 

A garda spokesperson said the male pedestrian’s condition is understood to be stable. 

The scene of the collision has been examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the local coroner has been notified. A post-mortem examination will be arranged.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

They are also seeking mobile phone and dash-cam footage from anyone who was in the vicinity of Main Street, Charleville at the time of the collision.
