Woman who died after being hit by bus named

The PSNI is appealing for information.

THE POLICE SERVICE of Northern Ireland has named the woman who died after being knocked down by a bus in Lisburn yesterday.

She was 48-year-old Linda Stewart Rooney, who was from the area. The incident happened at the town’s bus station on Smithfield Street at around 10.15 yesterday morning.

The woman was declared dead at the scene.

The PSNI has appealed for any for any witnesses to contact the Collision Investigation Unit at Steeple Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.

The operator, Translink, confirmed there had been a fatal accident and that emergency services attended the scene.

The bus depot was temporarily closed and an investigation is now underway.
