Woman hospitalised in critical condition following e-scooter crash in Galway city

The woman in her 50s was taken to University Hospital Galway this morning, where she remains in critical condition.

A WOMAN HAS been seriously injured in a road traffic incident involving an e-scooter in Galway city in the early hours of this morning.

The woman, aged in her 50s, was discovered with serious injuries on the Shantalla Road after travelling on an electric scooter.

Gardaí have said the woman was injured in a road incident between 1am and 2:15am.

The woman was quickly moved to University Hospital Galway, where her condition is described as critical.

The scene of the incident remains preserved this morning, as local gardaí conduct a technical examination. Local diversions are currently in place.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to this incident, urging anyone who was in the area between 1am and 2:15am to come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Gaillimh (Galway) Garda Station on 091 538000, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station,” a garda spokesperson said.
