Woman in her 70s dies in Co Louth house fire

She was pronounced deceased at the scene and no other injuries have been reported at this time.

A WOMAN IN her 70s has died in a house fire in Dundalk, Co Louth.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the fire at a terraced home on Bachelors Walk in Dundalk, Co. Louth at around 11pm last night.

Three fire tenders were in attendance, two from Dundalk and one from Ardee.

Dunleer Fire Brigade were also mobilised at a later stage in the incident.

A woman aged in her 70s was pronounced deceased at the scene and no other injuries have been reported at this time.

Louth County Council said the woman was found deceased in a ground floor living room.

The fire was fully extinguished at about 12:30am and the Fire Service also inspected adjacent houses and prevented fire spread where this was occurring.

The scene is currently preserved for technical examination.

It’s understood that the fire is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

Louth County Council Fire and Rescue Service said in a statement: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the occupant, and with all emergency service staff on duty at the scene.”
