Woman in her 70s killed in afternoon house fire in Galway

The fire broke out at around 12.30pm, gardaí have said.

A WOMAN IN her 70s has died following a fire this afternoon at a house in Oughterard, Co Galway.

The blaze, on Camp Street, broke out at around 12.30pm.

Emergency services responded and the body of the woman was found later this afternoon.

A post-mortem is expected to take place at University Hospital Galway. There was no-one else in the house at the time, gardaí have said.

The house has been sealed off as forensic tests are carried out.

Investigators don’t believe there will be a criminal investigation in relation to the case.
