Woman (62) seriously injured after being hit by car in Westmeath

The woman was taken to Midland Regional Hospital and has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital.

A WOMAN WAS seriously injured after being hit by a car while out walking in Co Westmeath.

The 62-year-old was walking in Ballynagall, Knockdrin, near Mullingar, at 1.45pm yesterday when the incident happened.

The woman was taken to Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore and has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. Her injuries are described as serious.

The driver of the car, a man in his late 60s, and a male passenger also in his 60s were uninjured.

The road was closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination, but has since reopened.
