Pedestrian killed by car in Leitrim

The pedestrian in her 60s was crossing a road outside Mohill when she was struck with a car.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses after a woman was killed by a car in Leitrim.

The collision occurred on the R201 on the outskirts of Mohill Village.

A female pedestrian aged in her 60s was seriously injured when she was struck by a car shortly after 5pm yesterday.

She was taken by ambulance to Sligo General Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the car was uninjured.

The road was closed to traffic overnight and diversions put in place.

Forensic collision investigators are due to examine the scene this morning.
