Woman in her 50s killed after being struck by car near Cahir

The woman, aged in her 50s, was walking with a child. The child was not injured.

A WOMAN IN her 50s has been killed after being struck by a car in Co Tipperary last night.

It happened at Kilcoran, Cahir on the Old Cork Road at around 8.20pm.

The woman, who was on foot and walking on the hard shoulder of the road, was struck and fatally injured.

She was walking accompanied by a child on a bicycle, according to gardaí. The child was not injured.

The car was travelling from Cahir towards Mitchelstown.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car, a man in his late 20s, was uninjured.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was travelling in the area at the time to contact them at Cahir Garda Station on 052 744 5630.
