Woman in her 20s killed after car leaves the road

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

GARDAÍ IN CAVAN are investigating a car crash that killed a woman in her late 20s.

The single vehicle fatal road traffic collision occurred at Carrickatober, County Cavan in the early hours of this morning.

Gardai were alerted to the collision at approximately 7.30am this morning. The crash happened on the road from Crosskeys to Ballyjamesduff Road, one kilometre on the Ballyjamesduff side of Crosskeys.

The female driver, the sole occupant of the car was fatally injured in the collision when her car left the road and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has been removed to the mortuary at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Navan.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and diversions are in place.
