Woman dies after being stabbed while working in Kilkenny shop

A man in his mid 20s was arrested.

A MAN HAS been arrested after a young woman was stabbed to death in Kilkenny last night.

The 28-year-old woman was working in a shop in the Market Cross centre when the man came in and stabbed her.

It happened at around 8:30 last night.

Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene and she was rushed by ambulance to St Luke’s Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

A 27-year-old man was arrested after gardai searched the area.

He’s being held at Kilkenny Garda station for questioning.

A post mortem is due to be carried out later today.

Gardaí say that investigations are ongoing.
