Woman who stabbed social worker and left her with life altering injuries sentenced to 8 years

On 3 November 2022, Fiyori Kesete attacked her social worker with a knife at Kesete’s home in Dungannon, Co Tyrone.

A WOMAN WHO stabbed her female social worker in 2022 and left her with life altering injuries has been sentenced to eight years for grievous bodily harm with intent.

On 3 November 2022, Fiyori Kesete, who is originally from Eritrea, attacked her social worker with a knife at Kesete’s home in Dungannon, Co Tyrone.

Kesete, who is now 25 years old, struck the woman on the head, neck, and twice to her left arm with the knife.

Deceive Constable Dunlop said of the incident: “This was a particularly vicious attack on a person who was helping a member of the public. It was a completely unprovoked attack, which no one should ever have to encounter in the course of their work.”

Kesete was today sentenced at Dungannon Magistrates Court to an 8 year custodial sentence for grievous bodily harm with intent.

“Hopefully today’s sentencing will provide the victim with some comfort that justice has been served and we will continue to work tirelessly to bring offenders before the courts so that that victims receive the justice they deserve,” Dunlop said.
