Woman in her 80s dies after being struck by a van in Carlow town

The incident happened yesterday afternoon at around 4.30pm.

A WOMAN IN her 80s has died after being struck by a van in Co Carlow.

The incident happened yesterday in an enclosed private car-park in Presentation Place, College Street, in Carlow town at around 4:30pm.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 80s, was taken to St. Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny with serious injuries.

She has since been pronounced dead and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

The driver of the van was uninjured.

A technical examination of the scene has been conducted and enquiries are ongoing.

Any pedestrians who were travelling in the Presentation Place area between 4:15pm and 4:45pm yesterday are asked to come forward to gardaí.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area at these times are also asked to come forward.
