The Luas is hiring and wants female drivers to apply

Benefits include wedding leave, maternity and paternity leave and free Luas travel.

THE LUAS OPERATOR Transdev wants female drivers to apply for new positions that are coming on stream.

As it stands there are only eight female drivers working for the Luas operator out of a total of 172 drivers.

Some 29 new staff are being taken on as the opening of the Luas Cross City gets closer.

In a statement Transdev Ireland said, “Applicants for Luas driver jobs have predominantly been from males in the past. The company is encouraging females to also apply.”

It also listed wedding leave of three days and maternity and paternity leave in a list of benefits.

Candidates will be required to pass a competency based interview and a pre-employment medical examination.
