Learn how Daft.ie's You Map It tool can help you find your next home

Daft.ie has collaborated with Allianz on a built-in feature that makes house hunting that bit easier.

CLICHÉ’S ARE OFTEN tired and overused by definition, however, when it comes to buying or renting a home, the adage of location, location, location rings true to this day.

The importance of location in your search for a property, whether it’s your dream home or your first time moving out of your parents house, can’t be understated. You can devote hours to finding the perfect location for you, or several options for where you would love to live. Whether it’s close to your hometown or somewhere besides the sea, defining the location is a crucial element of your home search.

However, the hard work isn’t finished just yet. If you have somewhere in mind, it can be a frustrating process to locate perfect properties in your niche neighbourhood.
Daft.ie, in association with Allianz, has developed a tool on its website to help make finding a house in your dream location easier than ever before. Launched late last year, the You Map It tool on Daft.ie allows you to save invaluable time in your property search.

You Map It tool

With the tool, you can draw a shape around an area of interest on the map and instantly pull up all available properties within that area. Daft.ie is constantly pioneering new innovations to make finding a property easier, and the You Map It tool is one of their latest efforts.

The video below shows you how you can use the handy tool to your advantage.

Speaking on the new tool, which is the first of its kind in the Irish property space, David O’Brien, product manager for Distilled, which owns Daft.ie, told us about Ireland’s number one property listing site’s vision for the You Map It tool.

Essentially, the vision we have is better buying and selling for everyone. We’re constantly looking at ways to improve the user experience, take feedback from our users, take feedback from people in Daft, and also look at best practices in international portals.”

Instant results

The new feature can be used by anyone for instant results. Users can choose the very estate they want if they’re looking for homes close to family, or if they want to live beside the coast, they can draw a boundary around the entire coast of Ireland, and easily see all properties available.

“Any shape that you want, you can do. The whole of Ireland if you want to, around a certain county if you wish, right down to the street that you may be looking for. We hope that users find it flexible and easy to use because ultimately, we want them to find the property that they’re looking for,” adds David.

Journal Media and Allianz

The You Map It tool is a result of the ongoing collaboration between Allianz and Journal  Media. The partnership runs across TheJournal.ie, Daft.ie, Donedeal.ie, and The42.ie, which are all part of the Journal Media stable.
