Young man dies after Mayo car crash

The 21-year-old died from his injuries, while a woman who was also in the car survived.

A 21-YEAR-OLD MAN has died from his injuries after being involved in a car crash in Co Mayo in the early hours of this morning.

Two people, a man and a woman, were travelling in a car at Clooneshil, near Newport when it hit a grass verge and crashed at around 3.15am.

Both people in the car suffered injuries and were taken by ambulance to Mayo General Hospital. The man was later pronounced dead, while the woman is being treated for her injuries.

The road is still closed this morning as it awaits a garda team for full technical examination.
