Young Welsh couple dies in UK floods

The tragic incident occurred as parts of England and Wales dealt with major flooding.

THE TWO BODIES pulled from the River Clywedog in Wrexham last night have been identified as 25-year-old Alicia Marie Williams and her boyfriend David Christopher Platt, also 25.

Both locals, the couple had been walking their five dogs near the river yesterday when they got into difficulty in the swollen water. The body of the female victim – a mother-of-one – was discovered at about 5pm, while David Platt’s remains were recovered from the river at about midnight following a major search.

The incident came as flooding affected thousands of people across England and Wales. Homes, roads and railtracks continue to be impacted by the rain but forecasters say the worst has now passed. However, 27 flood warnings remain in place
