YouTube delays music streaming service until early 2014

YouTube music streaming service is now expected to arrive early next year.

GOOGLE’S PLANS TO launch a music streaming service for YouTube will not happen until early 2014.

YouTube Music, which has yet to be officially announced by Google, was expected to arrive at the end of the year, but while the company has the necessary licensing deals arranged, it is not satisfied with the product itself and has decided to postpone its release.

It’s rumoured that the service will be similar to Spotify, offering both a free version and a premium version which removes ads and gives users unlimited access to artists and albums.

Other possible features include offline access to music and videos and the option to play music in the background while using other apps.

If Google does release YouTube Music, it will be the company’s second music streaming service.

Back in May, it launched Google Play Music All Access which costs €9.99 a month. It’s possible that the two services will be combined in the future.

The service is one of many changes made to YouTube over the year. Recently, the site was heavily criticised for introducing a new comment system based on Google+, prompting one of the site’s co-founders, Jawed Karim, to complain.
