Does the Leaving Cert really count?

All the advice Leaving Cert students are being given this morning… from ‘keep calm and carry on’ to wearing machine-washable shoes tonight.

IF YOU DO well in your Leaving Cert, will you end up rich, famous and in the job of your dreams?

Or if you do badly, are you destined to end up in a dead-end job, wishing you’d studied just that bit harder instead of watching TV?

As nearly 58,000 young Irish teenagers receive their Leaving Certificate results today, those are the questions on their minds.

Thankfully, their worried heads might be put at ease if they take a look at the advice being doled out by Twitter users.

Well, most of it.

Comedians, writers, Church of Ireland bishops and more are all reassuring students that the big LC doesn’t determine the rest of your life .

But wear a pair of machine-washable shoes tonight if you want your celebrations to be unforgettable for all the right reasons.

Why are the Gardai not arresting, questioning and charging John McGee and his like? Is the failure to report a serious criminal offence, witholding information and subsequent coverup not in itself a criminal offense?

    Can someone explain please?

John, I’m heavily involved in the Irish legal system and all I can conclude is that there is very little rational explanations for most parts of the Irish legal system. It’s the best barrister that wins. It’s very hard to find justice

I think Claire (as much as I like having a go at our erstwhile bewigged friends!) that there is a serious reluctance on behalf of the police to take action. It would seem that the climate of deference to the Church is still very much in place.
