Why is our country afraid to tackle major problems like guns, drugs, child abuse, bank fraudsters and the like?
Anyone with a gun that has no apparent reason..ie…hunter, farmer etc, should be dragged into court knowing a sever mandatory sentence awaits-simple!
Likewise for the other community disemboweling crimes!!!
Why cant random-check sniffer dogs pop into our prisons, maybe even a problematic school…maybe because the government might have to ACTUALLY face the drugs problem?
Why is pedophilia quite unpunished in any circle…not just judges or priests?
And do we seriously feign astonishment when guns are found in “known” criminally active premises?
I’m not even going to comment on our well protected Banking Developers…..

The Gardì are catching some….but our countries system just let’s them off the hook….

The Garda have to have reason and evidence to justify a search in schools and homes, would you allow someone to do a pat down search of your child and look though their bags and belongings?
are you proposing giving the Garda the authority to stop anyone in the street and search them without any real provocation?
what about power of arrest, should the Garda have power to arrest people because they think they are a criminal?
the problem is not the Garda response to crime its the idiot public of Ireland who when asked to sit on a jury refuse to or let the defendant off.
Judges should be the judges of guilt not people who have no knowledge of the system, an example of this is the manslaughter of a Garda in Donegal 2 or 3 years ago where the man rammed the guard with his car but was found innocent as he didn’t mean to kill him. manslaughter occurs when one person, while commiting an unlawful or reckless act, unintenionally kills another.

Gary I said the Gardi do their job.
The system thereafter let’s the result down!
“I said sniffer dog on random sniff around on problematic premises? Not pat-downs on children! You are over exaggerating my actual words!”
And yes I as a parent would welcome a sniffer dog if my children’s school had a drug problem.
It would let children see that just maybe it’s not worth it.
