Fine Gael's Deirdre Clune is seeking re-election for a third term of office as a deputy for Cork South-Central. The 51-year-old was first elected to the Dáil in 1997 and, although she failed in her reelection bid in 2002, she managed to regain her seat with over 9 per cent of the vote in the 2007 poll. As of July 2010, she is Fine Gael's Frontbench Spokesperson on Research and Innovation.

Did you know?

A daughter of former TD Peter Barry, Clune worked as a civil and environmental engineer for a number of year before choosing to follow in her father's political footsteps.
