Richard Bruton

Outgoing Dublin North-Central deputy Richard Bruton is one of the longest serving deputies in the Dáil, seeking his nineth successive term this time around. Bruton was appointed a Minister for Enterprise in Taoiseach John Bruton's rainbow goverment. In June 2010, he led an unsuccessful heave against party leader Enda Kenny. Following his defeat, he was stripped of his finance portfolio and was appointed as the party's enterprise spokesperson soon afterwards.



 

Did you know?

Bruton was a member of the Oireachtas football team which defeated a House of Commons selection at Old Trafford in 2003.
