Seán Haughey

Fianna Fáil's Seán Haughey has served as a deputy for Dublin North-Central since his initial election to Dáil Eireann in 1992. Son of former Taoiseach Charles J. Haughey, Haughey entered politics in 1985 when he was elected as a member of Dublin City Council, a position which he held until the abolition of the dual mandate in 2003. The 49-year-old also served a term in Seanad Éireann from 1987 to 1992. At present, Haughey is a Minister of State at the Department of Education where he has held a portfolio since late 2006.



 

Did you know?

Haughey was just 27 years-old when he was he elected as Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1989, making him the youngest person to ever hold the position.
